TRACEABILITY IN INDUSTRY
Traceability is one of the new demands in the different areas of world-wide commerce.
On competitive, complex markets, information on how products are manufactured and stored becomes critical. Traceability allows industries to emphasize the quality of their products.
For manufacturers, information on how certain production segments or raw materials are made provides key information that adds value to the end product.
In the case of consumers, the information and transparency protects them, allowing them to make rational, more responsible decisions.
In the case of the food industry, for example, traceability allows consumers to view a product’s differential features when making a purchase (i.e. certified food products, such as kobe, kosher or organic products).
In the European Union and the United States, a wide variety of different industries have begun using traceability. In Latin America, the implementation of traceable processes is underway.
